“Marykate, this is an awesome opening paragraph. I disagree with what Jill said in the above text. First off I want to say that this paragraph is awesome and I wouldn’t change a thing. the structure of it is awesome and flows so well. It sounds heart felt and intelligent at the same time. I feel that every child of our time has read this book and we can all relate to it. Personal connections are one the strongest thing you can do in a literacy narrative essay because it shows a side of you.”
“this part of the essay I really enjoyed because it shows the struggle and disappointment that reading has effected you. that statement where you said reading was no longer a new skill I thought was very interesting because its true, its not like math where we can learn new ways to figure out problems. Reading will never change which may make some people think its boring.”
This part of the paragraph I am just not feeling it. I understand that you are feeling embarrassed and such but I feel like there needs to be more than just being embarrassed/ Also what does it mean to be “smarter”? Because I believe we are all smart but in our own ways and sometimes others need to work harder than others yet we are all capable of doing the same work.”
“After reading your literacy narrative, im glad you chose the one about the Rainbow Fish. This story is one that anyone who knows how to read can relate to. You keep an optimistic attitude throughout the narrative even through the negative events. Two events that I would focus on is expand on the sentence where you talk about helping kids without pulling them out of class. I think this is an awesome subject to talk about and one that I would really like to know what you think we should do because I am an education major. Also when you talk about your “smarter” friends, explain what made them smarter and how you felt different from them because some may not understand that as well because we weren’t all in that situation. And my favorite part of your essay is definitely the beginning, don’t change a thing about it. awesome job MK.”
