  1. Gee, an author and linguist talks about multiple things in his research. These topics include Primary, Secondary Discourse, and Theorems. These Primary Discourses  are the ones that you had at birth and the Secondary Discourses include everything else. These include the things that bring you wealth and happiness. Both Gee and Cuddy argue about our lives and the ways that we live them every day. Gee talks about Primary Discourses. Primary Discourses are the ones that you are born with. :Primary Discourses, no matter whose they are, can never really be liberating literacies,” (Gee 10). For the literacy or the language to really be liberating, it must require two elements inside of it. Those two elements consist of a meta-language and the Discourse it was going to critique. Gee puts you inside this box of saying what you are and what you will become. He limits you in a way saying these are our Discourses and we can not grow at all because that is who we are. In contrast Cuddy has a much more positive feel and look on this topic. Cuddy Believes you can, “…fake it till you make it,” (Cuddy 5). Cuddy believes you have the ability to make people believe that you can pretend you are a smart person, or you have the ability to fit in but in actuality you are just faking it to eventually becoming it. Because after enough time people will accept you and you are now one of them.
  2. As shown in the pictures below I have my annotations showing where I need to fix my issues. Jack said my overall essay was good. He pointed out a few areas where I needed to add more detail and put more work into it. the three paragraphs posted in this blog post are just the three main points that need the most work when compared to the rest. Jack says I need to add quotations, and expand on my idea of Mushfaking when talking about Cuddy. Also switch my Cuddy paragraph with my Gee paragraph because my views are in line with hers. Also the biggest I needed to fix was add an underlying theme that runs throughout my essay. Its a good summary of the works but I need to add my point of view and have make a mark in the essay from the beginning to the end. Jack says instead of fixing the entire essay I need to focus on smaller areas making small adjustments.
  3. Cuddy, an american psychologist, author, and lecturer gave a presentation recently on TEDTalk about the power of body language and how it shapes us as the humans we are today in society. She talks about handshakes and other things, but her main point is all about the capability and effects of power posing for two minutes a day. 4. As one can, Cuddy and Gee both have different ways of attempting Discourses and they have there both positive and negative effects on us humans saying we can become something when everyone else knows we are not capable of it. But also these lessons give us  hope in a way that lets us live our lives so we can “fake it till we make” eventually one day whenever that may be.
